Festival Outfit Inspiration

Bluesfest is just around the corner, kicking off a cooler festival season that is packed with all the best grooves and tunes. To make your search for the perfect outfit a little bit easier, we've put together a list of our favourite styles for this festival season.

Some of our favourite festivals take place in Autumn and Winter, such as Splendour, which you couldn't pay to keep us away from. The store owner Mandy is a resident barfly at The Gold Bar, Anna scopes out the food trucks and sets up a picnic rug for the day, and I race from stage to stage, changing locations every hour to cover as much ground as possible.

With completely different festival attendance styles, we curate our outfits with different activities in mind. I'll opt for something fun to move and easy to run in, Mandy reaches for trusty jeans in case of a slip up, and Anna seeks functionality, always choosing gumboots in wet weather.

Jamie:

In the lead up to a festival, I'm always over-prepared. I'll have my outfit hanging up in my wardrobe for up to a month before the date, and I always refine my accessories several times over. My top pick of the season is Rowie's Kassia Gown in Candy, the perfect shade of shell pink.

Cassie Gown

You need an outfit that can carry you from day to night and this silky number is made in a heavy-duty satin that won't crease or stain from hillside intervals and hours in the mosh pit. Add The Freedom State Chicko Boots in Tan Suede and a large silver necklace to rock-it-up. Throw on a hat if you're in the mood, or let your long locks free. Finalise your fingers with chunky silver rings and stuff snacks into a Dilly Bag.

I'm not about single-use clothing, so my favourite aspect of the outfit is the versatility of the dress. Transform it by adding a delicate clutch and heels for a wedding or birthday celebrations down the track. The slip is a classic style that will keep you coming back.

Mandy:

I need to be comfortable at a festival, and I am more of a trudging festival goer than some of the lovelies I see getting around, so jeans are my festival go-to every time. I love the Levi's Straight Wedgies in Lasting Impression, as the colour is a little darker and dressier. The shape of the jeans sit high at the hips, allowing me to tuck it in if I choose – something I love to do with button-up shirts. The cropped length also allows me to show off my Chicko Boots in Python.

I love layers, so I’ve teamed The Free People Magic Hour Soft Bra in Black underneath the Imperial Blouse by Spell. I love the idea of wearing something quite dressy or special to a festival and dressing it down; this makes dressing for the event fun for me. If it cools down I have my Faithful Shearling Jacket by Lilya which is now on sale!

And lastly, getting on the cap train - Brixton's Kayla Cap in suede is a little different to so many caps getting around. I love a suede hat and we have three separate colours that are now on sale too - bargain!!

Anna:

I love festival season, not only for the fashion but also the music, chill hangs and food trucks! Festival fashion is the time I test my boundaries and try new looks that are a bit fun and adventurous! Trust me, you won't find me wearing this look on a trip to my local Woollies.

Anna's Festical Picks

I'm in love with the Strummer Lace Up Pants by Amuse Society, giving a sophisticated twist to an old classic. Pair with the ruched Rowie Bandeau in Slate, which shows just enough skin. I'm all about comfort so it is the Chicko Boots in Black or gumboots for me if it's wet! Add some statement earrings, a basic black bag, sunnies, a picnic rug and I'm good to go!
