Our Fave Autumn Abodes
In our eyes, there's nothing better than cultivating a killer record collection, picking up a grandad-style sofa and wasting the day away. This is where the magic happens, so don’t feel guilty for not leaving the house all day. Instead, grow your collection of cosy wool blankets and knee-high socks and get comfy.
A change of season is the perfect excuse to update your wardrobe, furniture, hair colour, and whatever else you please. Choose to decorate with earthy autumnal colours from brown to orange, or opt for pops of yellow to draw the light back into your space. With the right accessories and a little imagination, it can be summer all year ‘round.

Refreshing your space also refreshes the mind, so pull out your Bagua Map and Feng Shui the place. Swap some things around, clean up any clutter and balance out the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal and water.
For wood and fire, we’re drawn to vintage standalone wardrobes and cosy fireplaces. Indoor plants bring earth inside and freshen the space. To add a touch of metal, display your jewellery in dishes or hanging on the wall instead of locked away - your precious items deserve to be displayed. Finally, wavy, unframed mirrors balance the room with water.
We have to agree with Feng Shui expert Ellen Whitehurst - “You don’t have to spend 20 years on the couch [in therapy] to change your life – you just have to move the couch”. So brew some chai, grab a book and cosy up. It's The Freedom State way.
